IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to bring its globally recognised Crowne Plaza brand to the heart of Parramatta through a new partnership with developer-builder Urban Property Group (Urban). The 217-room Crowne Plaza Parramatta will form part of a landmark mixed-use development directly opposite Parramatta Train Station and is scheduled to open in 2029.
Set within Sydney’s rapidly expanding second CBD, the hotel will sit at the centre of the city’s busiest commercial and retail precinct, offering seamless access to Westfield Parramatta and nearby transport links. Guests will benefit from a direct connection between the train station and the hotel, creating an integrated experience for both business and leisure travellers.
The new Crowne Plaza Parramatta will feature a sophisticated all-day dining restaurant, a contemporary lobby bar, and a rooftop infinity pool with an outdoor terrace offering city views. Flexible meeting and event facilities will also be included, positioning the hotel as a key destination for conferences, corporate events, and social gatherings.
Matt Tripolone, Managing Director for Australasia & Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Urban and maximise this exceptional opportunity to bring our world-famous Crowne Plaza brand to Parramatta at a pivotal time in the city’s transformation.”
“Western Sydney is one of Australia’s most dynamic growth corridors, underpinned by record levels of infrastructure investment, a flourishing business and government sector, and the arrival of Western Sydney International Airport in 2026. Crowne Plaza Parramatta will be a flagship destination for both domestic and international travellers and an important and attractive addition to the city’s evolving skyline.”
Urban Property Group Co-CEO Patrick Elias added: “We are excited to partner with IHG Hotels & Resorts to bring Crowne Plaza Parramatta to life. This marks our first-ever hotel collaboration and will become a striking, defining feature within our mixed-use development when it opens in 2029.”
“Parramatta is set to play a key role in Sydney’s future as a major city centre, and we are proud to be creating a must-visit destination that combines quality hospitality and unrivalled connectivity for those who work here or visit from home or abroad.”
The project arrives at a transformative moment for Parramatta, as the city cements its position as Sydney’s second CBD. New cultural and infrastructure investments, including the Powerhouse Parramatta Museum and an expanded Riverside Theatre precinct, are reshaping the area’s visitor landscape. Meanwhile, the opening of the Western Sydney International Airport in 2026 is expected to further boost accessibility and economic growth across Greater Sydney.
Crowne Plaza Parramatta will join the growing portfolio of Crowne Plaza hotels across Australia, which currently includes properties in Sydney Darling Harbour, Melbourne, and Adelaide Mawson Lakes. With 14 open hotels and seven more in the pipeline nationally, the brand continues to build on its reputation for purposeful design, energising guest experiences, and flexible spaces that cater to both work and leisure.
Globally, Crowne Plaza has reached 415 open hotels with 144 more in development, reflecting its continued growth as one of the world’s most recognised upscale hotel brands.
