PowerBank Corporation has confirmed that its 1.45 MW DC rooftop solar installation in Calgary has officially achieved commercial operation. This project represents the company’s inaugural operational asset in Alberta and its debut as a small-scale generator within the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. Developed for Fiera Real Estate Investments Limited, the project is a significant step in the firm’s broader environmental strategy.

The solar array will supply electricity to the grid via Alberta’s Small Scale Generation program. Additionally, it will participate in the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) system to produce carbon offsets. This initiative supports Fiera Real Estate’s “Net Zero Pathway” which has set a target for two of its funds to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

PowerBank managed the project through a full-service agreement covering development, engineering, procurement and construction. The project received additional support from Zathura Investments. For Fiera Real Estate, which manages approximately $12.0 billion in commercial assets, the Calgary site serves as a pilot for potential future renewable projects across its portfolio.

The successful launch of this 1.45-megawatt site allows PowerBank to expand its operational footprint into Western Canada. By integrating clean energy into commercial properties, the partners aim to combine environmental responsibility with stable energy production. The project demonstrates a growing trend of real estate investment managers using rooftop space to meet modern sustainability requirements while contributing to the regional power supply.
