The Governor of the Eastern Region, Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, has officially started a major series of municipal and development projects in Al-Ahsa. The total cost for these initiatives is SAR992 million. The launch event was attended by the Governor of Al-Ahsa, Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, and the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Majed Al-Hogail.
As part of the proceedings, the Governor launched the Al-Ahsa Municipality Hackathon. This initiative is designed to create innovative solutions for challenges within the municipal and housing sectors. The goal of the competition is to use new ideas to improve the quality of life in cities across the region.
A new joint campaign was also introduced to tackle the issue of visual distortion. This programme aims to raise awareness among the community and improve the look of the urban landscape. This work is intended to support the Quality of Life Program which forms a core part of the Saudi Vision 2030 strategy.
The Governor also oversaw the signing of several investment and partnership agreements by Al-Ahsa Municipality. These included investment contracts that are expected to bring in financial returns of approximately SAR50 million. Additionally, nine community partnerships were signed during the event. These agreements are focused on providing sustainable municipal and development services for the governorate.
The plans include the establishment of three new parks in the local area. These new green spaces are intended to show the importance of partnerships in urban development. By creating these facilities, the authorities hope to improve the daily lives of residents in Al-Ahsa. The projects represent a significant investment in the infrastructure and sustainability of the region.
