Nairobi’s historic Fairview Hotel has officially joined the Vignette Collection, marking the brand’s first entry into the African market. Known for its botanical gardens and early 20th-century charm, the 99-room boutique property is the latest addition to IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio. The move allows the hotel to maintain its unique Kenyan identity while gaining access to IHG’s global network and loyalty systems.

The hotel features renovated guest rooms and suites set within traditional architecture characterized by arched windows and stone facades. Amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and nine meeting spaces, including a hidden wine cellar. Guests can choose from three signature restaurants: Mukutan, Pwani and Giuseppe, along with an atrium coffee shop and a contemporary fireplace lounge.

The Vignette Collection currently has 27 open properties worldwide, with another 41 in development. Each hotel in the collection incorporates specific hallmarks, such as “Memorable Rituals.” At the Fairview, this includes “SimuStories,” where guests use a vintage telephone to listen to historical anecdotes about the property. The brand also focuses on “Means For Good” initiatives. The Fairview has partnered with the Kenya National Library Service to promote local literacy through book donations and reading competitions.
