IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has confirmed an agreement for the Mangala Estate Kuantan, a 67-villa property in a deal with the FRANKY Group of Companies. This signing introduces the Vignette Collection brand, IHG’s first collection brand, into Malaysia.

The idyllic retreat will initially join the IHG system under its current name in mid-2026. It will then undergo a comprehensive refurbishment before officially rebranding as Mangala Estate Kuantan, Vignette Collection by IHG in mid-2027. The Vignette Collection is a curated group of distinct hotels that preserve their individual character while leveraging IHG’s global scale.

The estate’s design is inspired by the healing of the land and water, offering a sanctuary set within a nature-rich environment of lush greenery and palm plantations. The resort is a haven for over 100 bird species. This strong connection to the environment aligns with the Vignette Collection’s brand hallmark, ‘Means for Good’, which focuses on sustainability and purpose.

Bryan Chan, Vice President, Development, South East Asia & Korea for IHG, stated: “We’re delighted to introduce Vignette Collection into Malaysia with Mangala Estate Kuantan, Vignette Collection. By adding this outstanding property to our portfolio, we continue to grow our Luxury & Lifestyle presence in the country, reflecting our confidence in its appeal as a leading tourist destination and its attractiveness as an investment opportunity.” He added: “This is our first resort in Kuantan and marks IHG’s entry into Pahang. With its one-of-a-kind stay within a destination renowned for its scenic beaches and stunning waterfalls, we know that it will continue to be one of the leading hotels in the area following refurbishment and provide travellers with truly memorable stays.”

Dato’ Franky Chua, Managing Director and Founder of the Franky Group of Companies, commented: “We are excited to partner with IHG and introduce Mangala Estate Resort Kuantan to the Vignette Collection portfolio. Our vision for Mangala Estate has always been to offer an eco-luxury retreat that harmonises with its environment and community. IHG’s global reputation for excellence, together with Vignette Collection’s focus on individuality and purpose, makes this brand a perfect fit to share our story with a broader audience.”

Kuantan, the capital of Pahang, is a prominent coastal destination for domestic travellers seeking nature. It was the second-most-visited Malaysian destination in 2024, recording 2.28 million visitors.

The resort, designed for travellers who value authenticity, offers a selection of 67 elegantly designed villas. These include single villas with private pools, lake-view villas, and two-bedroom villas with private pools. Dining facilities will include an all-day dining restaurant and a poolside bar, both serving farm-to-table and locally inspired menus. Wellness is a key feature, with a serene spa, dedicated facilities, and two picturesque lakes for water activities. Meeting spaces are available for up to 400 people.
