The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has formally signed a contract with Q Saudi to commence the development and operation of a new integrated logistics centre at Yanbu Commercial Port. This strategic partnership carries an investment value exceeding SAR 29 million.
The ambitious project will span an area of 120,490 square metres. It is designed to significantly increase the port’s handling capacity, aligning with the Kingdom’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy. This national strategy aims to solidify Saudi Arabia’s international standing as a global logistics hub.
This initiative forms part of Mawani’s broader commitment to enhancing port infrastructure across the Kingdom. It is intended to increase the private sector’s contribution to the national GDP and strengthen Yanbu Commercial Port’s status as a vital strategic gateway on the Red Sea.
The contract was formally executed by H.E. Eng. Sulaiman bin Khalid Al-Mazroua, President of Mawani, and Mr. Abdullah Naeim Qarnabeesh, CEO of Q Saudi. Senior officials from both organisations were present at the signing ceremony.
The logistics centre is expected to deliver substantial economic benefits. It will aim to attract investments from both national and international shipping and logistics companies. Furthermore, the centre will generate direct and indirect employment opportunities, thereby supporting wider economic development. It is also set to increase cargo handling volumes and improve operational efficiency at Yanbu Commercial Port.
The centre will provide essential facilities for cargo storage and redistribution. This will help meet the operational requirements of various shipping and transport companies. The project directly supports the overall goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Yanbu Commercial Port holds significance as one of the oldest seaports on Saudi Arabia’s western coast. It serves as a key access point for pilgrims. The port currently features 12 berths with a total capacity that exceeds 13.5 million tons. It is also equipped with a passenger terminal capable of handling 2,000 travellers, a general cargo terminal, and two grain silos, each offering a storage capacity of 20,000 tons.
