Rabat has become the stage for the inaugural North Africa Smart Infrastructure Summit, which officially opened on Wednesday, 10 September 2025. The two-day gathering is designed to strengthen regional cooperation in infrastructure development and showcase Morocco’s strides across key sectors.

Organised by Verve Management, an international platform for dialogue and exchange, the event brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to discuss future-oriented strategies for building sustainable and innovative infrastructure across North Africa.

The summit focuses on Morocco’s achievements in real estate, sports facilities, airports, transportation, and hospitality, while also exploring modern approaches to meet the region’s upcoming milestones.

Highlighting the importance of the event, Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka said that the summit’s theme was well aligned with Morocco’s strategic priorities. He stressed that infrastructure development is central to the Kingdom’s major transformations ahead of forthcoming international sporting events and represents a key lever for responding to climate change challenges.

The minister pointed out that Morocco has adopted flexible and sustainable practices in the design and execution of its projects, to adapt to climatic pressures such as prolonged droughts and irregular rainfall.

In a separate address, Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh underlined the pivotal role of innovation and scientific research in strengthening the sector’s competitiveness. His remarks, delivered on his behalf by the ministry’s Secretary General, Zine El Abidine Britel, emphasised the government’s commitment to building partnerships with universities and research centres. These collaborations aim to deliver advanced technological solutions for transport and logistics in line with Morocco’s ongoing digital transition.
