The Anambra State Government is moving ahead with its ambitious low-cost housing initiative after resolving last-minute bureaucratic and contractual issues. The scheme aims to construct 10,000 affordable homes for civil servants and low-income households in the Isiagu area of Awka South Local Government. The project, which has been approved by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, will be executed via a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement with real estate developers.
Researchers at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) have launched the GlobalBuildingAtlas, the first high-resolution 3D map of all buildings worldwide. The open dataset includes 2.75 billion building models captured in 2019 satellite imagery, making it the world's most comprehensive collection of its kind. The data is crucial for climate research and supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
New Murabba, a Public Investment Fund company, and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Washington, D.C., establishing a framework to explore collaboration in sustainable urban development. The agreement focuses on applying global sustainability frameworks like LEED across the New Murabba project. New Murabba has also joined the USGBC as a Platinum member, signalling a deep commitment to sustainability leadership in creating a new destination in Riyadh.
Aldar and Mubadala Capital have officially announced the formation of Aldar Capital, a new investment management platform. The joint venture will focus on connecting global institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds and pension funds, with high-quality real estate and infrastructure opportunities across the UAE and the wider GCC region.
The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones, MODON, and JINGDONG Property, JD.com’s infrastructure arm, have signed an MoU to develop and operate two million square metres of logistics and industrial assets in Saudi Arabia. The agreement, sealed at the UNIDO GC21 in Riyadh, focuses on projects in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. The first project will be a 40,000+ sqm Grade-A speculative warehousing facility in Jeddah Industrial City, built to BREEAM Excellence standards.
Watts Water Technologies Inc., a world leader in water solutions, has successfully purchased Saudi Cast. This strategic purchase was completed on December 1, 2025. It was financed using Watts’ existing cash reserves. Saudi Cast brings annualised sales of about $20 million to Watts. The acquired business will now operate within the APMEA regional segment. The move expands Watts’ operational reach in the Middle East.
