This move marks a shift towards asset-light growth, allowing independent owners to access global distribution systems while maintaining their unique local identity across future sites in the UK, Spain, Austria and the UAE.
Marriott International is expanding its midscale presence in Europe through the debut of its Series by Marriott brand. The launch involves 11 new projects across the United Kingdom and Italy in partnership with Splendid Hospitality Group and Amapa Group. Corinthia Hotels has teamed up with RoundShield and Kervis SGR to launch a 58-key luxury resort in Lake Como. Set to open in 2028, the property will be located in Menaggio next to Italy's second-oldest golf course. The development includes a beach club, three private villas and branded residences designed to blend with the alpine landscape. This project marks Corinthia's second site in Italy and focuses on restoring local heritage.
Accor has signed Sofitel Genoa Waterfront, a 120-room luxury hotel designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop and scheduled to open in 2027. Partnering with AG Group, the project forms part of Genoa’s Waterfront di Levante redevelopment and will introduce the Sofitel brand to Liguria for the first time.
