On International Chefs Day, hotel developers and operators are shifting kitchen decisions to the very first master plan. From all-electric kitchens and rooftop agriculture to AI-driven waste reduction, decisions about how food is sourced, prepared and discarded are actively shaping floor plans, energy infrastructure and guest spaces across global commercial real estate.
Marriott International has signed a landmark multi-deal agreement with Townhouse Hotels to add eight properties and over 700 rooms to its Dutch portfolio. The expansion debuts the Series by Marriott brand in the Netherlands and marks the company's first entry into Maastricht and Eindhoven. Six hotels will join Series by Marriott, while two boutique locations will align with the Tribute Portfolio brand.
Marriott International has reached a milestone in Mexico by opening its 300th hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott Torreón. The expansion covers over 44,000 rooms across 25 brands, supported by a pipeline of 76 properties. With conversions accounting for 35 per cent of signed developments, Marriott plans to open more than 10 additional properties in Mexico before the end of 2026.
Vietnamese conglomerate Sun Group has secured strategic agreements with US firms Visa, Marriott International and Boeing during an official state visit to New York. The partnerships span digital payment integration, hotel expansion and aerospace development. The moves follow Vietnam’s Politburo Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW, which aims to position tourism as a primary economic driver and grow the sector to contribute 12 to 14 per cent of national GDP.
Sun Group and Marriott International have signed a strategic partnership agreement in New York to expand Vietnam’s luxury hospitality and MICE tourism sectors ahead of APEC 2027. The agreement includes a major multi-brand hotel complex at the Ruby Beach Mixed-Use Urban Area in Phu Quoc, which will initially introduce over 7,000 rooms. The development is supported by regional infrastructure upgrades, including airport expansions and transit projects.
PASHA Real Estate Group and Marriott International have agreed to a multi-property deal to build three hospitality and residential sites in Azerbaijan and Georgia. The plans feature an 80-room Ritz-Carlton resort and 282 residences in Zagulba, a 238-unit residential tower extension in Baku, and a 152-room Le Méridien hotel in central Tbilisi.
