A consortium comprising A&O TEC, Prior+Partners, ZHA, Homa, Buro Happold, Systematica and Fichtner has presented the Benghazi 2050: Next Generation City Plan. The scheme introduces a Spatial Strategy alongside a Digital Planning Hub, combining 3D urban models, GIS data and environmental metrics. Designed as an adaptable framework, the project aims to guide sustainable expansion, reconnect the historic coastal city with its waterfront and coordinate infrastructure investments through to 2050.
Zaha Hadid Architects has unveiled the masterplan for Baku Expo City, a 198-hectare development in Azerbaijan. The scheme accommodates population growth through diverse housing, community facilities and an expanded exhibition centre. Designed to adapt to local wind conditions and climate, the project preserves 92% of the site’s 18,000 trees while incorporating green roofs, renewable energy systems and upgraded public transport connections.
