The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has signed a strategic agreement with Siemens to develop digital urban infrastructure, municipal utilities and advanced transit networks across Abu Dhabi.

The partnership was formalised during the Liveability and Investment Exhibition (LIVEX 2026), held in Abu Dhabi from 29 September to 1 October 2026. Adel Abdulla Albreiki, Acting Undersecretary of the DMT, signed the agreement alongside Rohit Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Advanta Middle East & India.

The collaboration establishes a formal structure to integrate artificial intelligence, municipal data analytics and digital technologies into urban management. Both organisations will work together to improve decision-making processes, elevate service delivery and boost operational efficiency across the emirate. The agreement also provides for the shared exchange of expertise and industry best practices.

A central initiative under the pact involves investigating AI-enabled stormwater and flood prediction technologies. These tools are intended to strengthen planning and emergency preparedness during severe weather events, offering enhanced safety across key drainage zones.

By combining infrastructure innovation, intelligent mobility systems and advanced data capabilities, the agreement supports Abu Dhabi’s ongoing strategy to raise quality of life, strengthen long-term sustainability and build regional competitiveness.
