Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly witnessed a significant signing ceremony at the Government Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. Elsewedy Industrial Development and Kunming Chuanjinnuo Chemical Co. (CJN) agreed to establish a large specialised phosphate chemical industrial complex. The project will be located in the Sokhna Industrial Zone at SCZONE within the Sokhna 360 integrated industrial city.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Mohamed AlKammah, CEO of Elsewedy Industrial Development, and Mr. Huang Qiuhan, CEO of CJN Egypt. Several high-profile officials attended the event. These included Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of SCZONE, and Eng. Ahmed Elsewedy, CEO and MD of Elsewedy Electric.
The project will occupy 905,000 square metres within SOKHNA360. Total investments are expected to reach approximately USD 1 billion across all stages. The complex aims to create around 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. Most production targets export markets in South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and South America.
Development will occur in three sequential phases. Phase I begins in 2026 with commercial operation expected in 2028. It will focus on producing phosphoric acid, DAP and TSP fertilisers. Phase II starts in 2029 and will produce high-purity specialty phosphate chemicals. Phase III launches in 2032. This final phase focuses on new energy materials such as electric vehicle battery materials.
Eng. Mohamed AlKammah spoke about the deal. He affirmed that the project represents a major leap in specialized industries within ‘Sokhna 360,’ not only due to its investment magnitude but also for deploying technologies that support future industries, particularly battery materials and new energy solutions. He noted that the project reflects global investors’ trust in Egypt’s ability to become a regional industrial hub capable of producing and exporting high-value products worldwide, supporting Egypt’s vision to increase exports to USD 100 billion in the coming years.
Mr. Huang Qiuhan, CEO of CJN Egypt, highlighted that, “Egypt was chosen due to its exceptional logistical advantages and its vast phosphate reserves, in addition to SCZONE’s ability to provide an industrial ecosystem capable of supporting global supply chains at competitive costs.”
The project will include a Research & Development Center. Midgulf, a global trading company, will be a shareholder and hold marketing rights for part of the production. Midgulf executives CEO Ahmed Badr and Regional Director Hany Ragab attended the signing.
