Sustainability data firm Measurabl has named Maureen Waters as its new Chief Executive Officer. The move signals a fresh chapter for the real estate technology provider as it seeks to scale its global operations.

Waters takes the top job after serving as the firm’s President and Chief Growth Officer. She succeeds Co-founder Matt Ellis, who will move into the role of Executive Chairman. In his new position, Ellis will lead on investment and merger activity while acting as a senior advisor to the board.

Since joining the company in 2023, Waters has overseen a sharp rise in performance, with operating margins climbing more than 25% annually. She was instrumental in the 2024 launch of the Navigate product and the rollout of a free sustainability tool this year. That service is already used by 14,000 buildings in 47 countries.

“It is a tremendous honor to name Maureen Waters Measurabl’s next CEO,” said Matt Ellis. “Over the last 13 years, we built Measurabl into the world’s most widely adopted sustainability data platform for real estate. But that was only the beginning. Maureen is the CEO to do what’s next: break down paywalls for unprecedented, widespread adoption, assemble a deeper, broader ecosystem of partnerships and integrations, and pave a clear path to being the industry’s source of truth for investment-grade sustainability data.”

Waters arrives with a background in senior property and tech roles. She previously worked as Chief Strategy Officer at Cushman & Wakefield and led real estate strategy for Bill Gates Investments. She also served as President of Ten-X before its sale to CoStar.

The appointment comes as the property sector faces stricter environmental rules and rising costs. Waters plans to start her tenure with a “listening tour” to meet clients and partners. She aims to put the “voice of the customer” at the heart of the firm’s data strategy.

“Measurabl has a strong team, a clear strategy, and a platform built to support long-term value for our customers and partners. I’m excited to build on the foundation we’ve created over the last two years,” said Maureen Waters. “I see myself as the chief customer advocate first and foremost. Our focus will remain on supporting customer needs and delivering innovative solutions that help the industry embed sustainability data into real estate transactions throughout the asset lifecycle.”

Accompanying the change, Edward Allen has been promoted to Chief Commercial Officer. Chris Zegal will also take on a wider remit as SVP for Go-To-Market Strategy and Marketing.
