World Environment Day is a prompt. What matters is everything before it. Solar power company Alight has expanded its clean energy partnership with automotive supplier Lear Corp through three new industrial projects in Europe. The initiatives include a 1.4-megawatt solar carport in Valls, Spain, and two rooftop solar systems at factories in Poland. Operating under a long-term Solar-as-a-Service model, the new installations bring the firms' joint European capacity to more than 6 megawatts across six operational sites.
Construction has commenced on Aspen at Greenleigh, a $148 million premium apartment scheme in Middle River, Maryland. The joint venture between St. John Properties and Somerset Companies will introduce 335 high-specification homes by late 2027. Notably, the development is on track to become North America's largest green Insulated Concrete Form structure, setting a new benchmark for regional urban development.
Rockfield Real Estate and pension fund ABP have launched a €350 million joint venture to develop more than 2,000 affordable, eco-friendly homes for students and young professionals in the Netherlands. The initiative aims to tackle severe housing shortages in key Dutch student cities, offering large-scale complexes with communal facilities to help young people successfully transition through early career stages and improve overall market mobility.
Aldar and Mubadala Investment Company have completed an AED 654 million acquisition of The Link at Masdar City through their 2024 joint venture. The mixed-use development is fully leased to major institutions, including Masdar and MBZUAI. Covering 32,000 square metres, the site features LEED Platinum office space and residential units. This deal highlights the growing demand for high-quality, sustainable assets within Abu Dhabi’s innovation ecosystem.
Talaat Moustafa Group has unveiled "The Spine," a landmark cognitive city project in Egypt. Launched alongside Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly, the EGP 1.4 trillion development integrates artificial intelligence with urban living. The project aims to contribute 1 per cent to Egypt’s GDP and create 155,000 jobs. It features a Special Investment Zone designed to attract global corporations through digital infrastructure and simplified regulations.
