Marriott International has reached 300 open properties in Mexico following the debut of the Courtyard by Marriott Torreón. The milestone brings the hospitality group’s portfolio to more than 44,000 rooms across 25 global brands, reinforcing the country as its largest market in the Caribbean and Latin America.

The company currently holds a development pipeline of 76 hotels representing more than 12,000 rooms in Mexico, as of the second quarter of 2026. Hotel conversions represent 35 per cent of signed projects, driven by independent property owners joining soft brands such as The Luxury Collection, Autograph Collection and Tribute Portfolio. More than 10 additional hotel openings are expected across the country before the end of the year.

“Reaching the 300-property mark in Mexico is a landmark achievement for Marriott International, reflecting the strength of our global brands and the momentum that has positioned us as the leading hospitality company in Mexico with the largest portfolio of open and pipeline hotels,” said Alejandro Acevedo, Regional Vice President of Development for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America. “Mexico’s rich travel landscape continues to open new avenues for expansion, and our success in the market is rooted in a locally driven approach, powered by talented teams across development and operations who understand the unique dynamics of the country. By combining flexible conversion platforms, expanded all-inclusive offerings, branded residential and targeted development in regional business hubs, we are giving owners diverse ways to create value, while giving Marriott Bonvoy members even more choices to tailor their stays.”

Resort, luxury and all-inclusive destinations continue to drive momentum. In June, the company opened The St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancún. Earlier in May, the company converted The Westin Playa Vallarta into an all-inclusive resort.

Upcoming coastal openings include Casa Nizuc, a Tribute Portfolio Resort, scheduled for November. Marriott also signed an agreement with BlueBay Group for an all-inclusive Marriott property in Riviera Maya, alongside a partnership with The Reef Resorts & Spa to convert three properties in Playa del Carmen to the Tribute Portfolio collection.

Expansion is also moving into secondary and tertiary regional hubs supported by manufacturing and trade. Recent openings include Sheraton León in April, Fairfield by Marriott San Luis Potosí Los Lagos in July, and Courtyard by Marriott Torreón in August. Future properties are planned across Chihuahua, Michoacán and Puebla for 2027.
