CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust (CICT) has strengthened its sustainability profile after securing enhanced green building ratings for two landmark Singapore properties. The Atrium@Orchard has become the first operational office-retail building in Singapore to be awarded the Green Mark Platinum (Super Low Energy) certification by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), while Raffles City Singapore has been upgraded to the Green Mark Platinum rating from its previous GoldPLUS status.
CICT, managed by CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust Management Limited (CICTML), announced the achievement on 3 November 2025, positioning the real-estate investment trust as a leader in sustainable asset management. The certifications recognise advanced energy-efficient design, technology adoption and operational performance across the trust’s portfolio.
“CICT is committed to building a sustainable built environment by reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency of the properties we manage,” said Mr Tan Choon Siang, Chief Executive Officer of CICTML. “The higher green building ratings for The Atrium@Orchard and Raffles City Singapore underscore our dedication to sustainable asset management and operational excellence, amid increasingly stringent assessment standards by the BCA. Through forward-thinking innovation, purposeful stakeholder engagement and a robust governance framework, we are shaping a portfolio that delivers long-term value and drives a more sustainable future.”
The BCA Green Mark Platinum (Super Low Energy) rating recognises buildings that deliver at least 60% energy savings and incorporate renewable energy systems, intelligent building management and advanced efficiency features. A rooftop solar photovoltaic system at The Atrium@Orchard will generate a minimum of 385,000 kilowatt-hour annually, equivalent to powering roughly 85 four-room HDB flats.
Both properties have adopted a Cooling-as-a-Service model to drive energy savings while maintaining comfort standards. Other measures include variable speed drives on condenser and chilled-water pumps, motion and daylight sensors for lighting, and water-efficient features. The buildings also hold PUB’s Water Efficient Building certification. CICT reports that as of 30 June 2025, 100% of its portfolio by gross floor area carries green ratings.
Beyond building performance, CICT continues to perform strongly in global sustainability benchmarks. It achieved a 5-star rating in the 2025 GRESB Real Estate Assessment, ranks within the top 20% of global participants, holds an AA rating from MSCI ESG Ratings and has been listed on the FTSE4Good Index Series for 18 consecutive years.
