Minor Hotels has announced the signing of the NH Collection Pemba Island Resort in Tanzania as part of its ongoing expansion across East Africa. The international hotel operator, which manages more than 640 properties in 59 countries, is working in partnership with Infinity Developments on the project. This is the same entity behind the Anantara Zanzibar Resort & Residences which is currently under construction. The new resort is expected to welcome guests from February 2030.

The property will be located within a short drive of Pemba Airport. This ensures the 145-key resort is accessible for those travelling from Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar. Despite its accessibility, the development aims to protect the exclusive and low-impact tourism environment that defines Pemba Island. The site will include a range of guestrooms, suites and villas. It will also offer several dining locations and facilities for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE).

Amir Golbarg, Chief Operations Officer, Minor Hotels Middle East & Africa commented, “Introducing the NH Collection brand to Tanzania, with our first property on Pemba Island marks a major step in our expansion footprint across the Indian Ocean, building on our trusted partnership with Infinity Developments. The island’s unspoiled beauty and growing appeal among experience-led travellers make it an ideal location for the NH Collection brand.”

The design of the resort focuses on a blend of modern architecture and the natural surroundings of the island. This approach is intended to create a relaxed atmosphere for leisure guests while maintaining high hospitality standards. The project highlights a significant investment in the growing tourism market of Tanzania.

Mr. Samuel Saba, Founder of Infinity Developments added, “Following the success of our collaboration on Anantara Zanzibar, we are delighted to partner once again with Minor Hotels to bring the NH Collection brand to Pemba Island. This development combines sustainable design with strong brand positioning, further enhancing the appeal of Zanzibar as a world-class destination.”

Minor Hotels has expressed strong confidence in the region. The signing of this resort reinforces their goal to build a presence in high-potential markets across Africa and the Indian Ocean.
