Hyundai Engineering & Construction has formed a massive financial alliance with 17 institutions to support the redevelopment of Apgujeong Districts 3 and 5. The move is designed to create a solid funding base and reduce the economic pressure on project members.
The construction giant signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a group of lenders led by its primary bank, Hana Bank. This partnership covers the entirety of the District 3 and 5 projects. By doing so, the company aims to get ahead of potential financial risks and launch its “H-Finance Solutions” programme. This initiative is a full-scale support system created to protect members from unpredictable market shifts and high costs.
As part of the deal, Hyundai E&C will work with these banks to find the best possible financial products for every stage of the build. This includes funding for construction costs, relocation expenses, interim payments and the final balances due when residents move in. The banks involved have committed to providing bespoke support and will work with the builder to develop new ways to make the process easier for customers.
The Apgujeong project is currently one of the most significant urban renewal schemes in Seoul. Experts believe that keeping the finances stable is vital for its success. Hyundai E&C previously set up a similar network for Apgujeong District 2, which helped build a strong reputation with clients. The company now intends to treat the various “Apgujeong Hyundai” sites as one connected business zone to maintain this stability.
A spokesperson for Hyundai Engineering & Construction said: “We will expand the financial cooperation model that began in Apgujeong District 2 to Districts 3 and 5, reducing the uncertainty and burden felt by customers, and establish Hyundai Engineering & Construction’s own ‘safe financial system’ that takes responsibility for not only construction but also financial stability.”
The official also noted the cultural importance of the area. “Apgujeong is a symbol of high-end housing in the Republic of Taiwan and a space where Hyundai Engineering & Construction’s heritage is concentrated,” they said. “In order to preserve Apgujeong’s unique value, we will collaborate with the world’s top design firms and implement customer-first management throughout our business.”
