Insurance tech provider eMaxx has launched a commercial property scheme powered by the eMaxx Reciprocal Insurance Exchange to support building owners facing fluctuating premiums and valuation disagreements.

Announced in Tampa, Florida, on August 13, 2026, the Commercial Property Program targets commercial landlords who maintain rigorous risk prevention measures and property maintenance. Eligibility depends on meeting Highly Protected Risk Catastrophe (HPRCAT) criteria, which demand strong structural design, comprehensive fire defences, and structured hazard management for risks including wildfires and hurricanes.

Under the framework, qualifying members secure policies from an A.M. Best A-rated insurance firm, while the eMaxx Reciprocal Insurance Exchange operates as a reinsurer. Managed through eMaxx’s sponsored captive eCaptiv, which is structured as a mutual benefit corporation with protected cells, the program functions on a variable cost basis. Additional coverage capacity is sourced via facultative reinsurance.

“This program is designed for commercial building owners who have made meaningful investments in their properties and risk management practices,” said Megan P. McCarthy, President of eCaptiv. “By combining HPRCAT standards with a policyholder-owned structure, the program creates greater alignment among Members, risk management practices, and long-term performance.”

Created under Arkansas law, the eMaxx Reciprocal Insurance Exchange is owned by its policyholder Subscribers and supplies commercial property and casualty coverage as both an insurer and reinsurer. Enrolling in the scheme automatically grants property owners Subscriber status, linking corporate governance, risk controls, and operational performance directly to policyholders.

“The Commercial Property Program reflects the benefits of the Reciprocal model,” said Zekia Washington, Vice President of Reinsurance and Product Development at eMaxx. “Members who maintain strong standards and achieve favorable results may benefit from the financial performance of the program.”

The initiative is open to eligible commercial property operators, as well as the independent insurance agents and brokers representing them. eMaxx is currently accepting enquiries regarding eligibility and registration criteria.
