The Inter-American Development Bank Group and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean have launched a joint data platform to address housing shortages and urban development issues in Latin America and the Caribbean. Named Housing and Urban Intelligence, the platform is the region’s first integrated data hub of its kind, launched with support from the OECD. The platform provides over 3,000 indicators, 18 country profiles, and information from more than 500 official sources.
The Social Hub has unveiled proposals for a £200 million hospitality and community complex in Edinburgh’s Fountainbridge, marking its second UK venture. The project would bring a 560-bed hybrid hotel, coworking areas, and public spaces to the long-derelict former Fountain Brewery site, aligning with wider regeneration plans for the neighbourhood.
ROSHN Group expanded its network of construction and infrastructure partners on the final day of Cityscape Global 2025, signing land sale agreements worth SAR 115.9 million and multiple contracts with suppliers and sub-developers. The Group also renewed its finance partnership with Sakani and signed an MOU with Geberit International to introduce water-efficient sanitary solutions.
Al Marwan Developments has launched District 11, the UAE’s first AI-designed smart work resort, spanning 3.5 million sq ft across 11 buildings in Sharjah. The development features premium offices, a 368-unit hotel, and 3,000 parking spaces, combining advanced infrastructure, sustainability, and human-centric design. District 11 aims to enhance Sharjah’s investment appeal and support economic diversification.
New7Wonders has launched its global “7 Wonders of Future Cities” campaign on World Cities Day 2025, inviting urban developments worldwide to compete for recognition as leading models of innovation and sustainability. Cities and districts have twelve months to apply before global public voting begins in October 2026. Winners will be named on 31 October 2027 in the next major New7Wonders initiative.
Saudi Minister of Municipalities and Housing Majed Al-Hogail will begin a tour of China and South Korea to boost cooperation in real estate, urban technology, and smart cities. The trip will include signing agreements for 100,000 new homes by 2030 and furthering partnerships with leading Asian firms, in support of Saudi Vision 2030’s urban development goals.
