Robotics and visual intelligence provider DroneDeploy has launched Ground Pro, an advanced 3D capability layer integrated into its DroneDeploy Ground software. The announcement marks a key product update following Procore’s recent acquisition of DroneDeploy.

Designed for superintendents and site managers, Ground Pro enables field personnel to convert standard mobile photos and 360-camera captures into measurable 3D records. The technology runs on smartphones, iPads and 360 cameras, bridging the gap between static 2D construction drawings and real-time site conditions.

The software expansion introduces three primary features to the platform: Interior Maps, Mobile 3D Scanning with optional RTK support, and 3D Measure & Navigation. Interior Maps generate plan views of floor and ceiling layouts, allowing teams to overlay design drawings synced with DroneDeploy directly onto current site conditions to sequence trades and monitor material staging. Mobile 3D Scanning captures underground utilities, trenches and in-slab sleeves prior to backfilling, while 3D Measure & Navigation builds navigable 3D meshes from 360-degree site walks to verify clearances and room dimensions after wall installations.

Contractors using the technology report operational efficiencies on active sites. Florida-based KAST Construction uses the system to manage interior trade sequencing on mid- and high-rise developments, while Steele & Freeman uses 3D scans to document underground utilities before backfilling to prevent costly change orders and rework.

“Ground Pro has changed how we protect a project. We captured a grease trap before it was backfilled, and when the underground plumbing and utilities came into question weeks later, that 3D scan settled the matter in minutes instead of receiving a change order to fix the damage,” said Oscar Martyn, Assistant Project Manager at Steele & Freeman. “We can close out a job, get a call a year later about a dimension or questionable installation and answer it without sending anyone back to the site. It has saved us real money and unnecessary trips, and it lets the field team make decisions from what is actually in the ground today rather than a drawing that doesn’t reflect reality.”

“Drones have given us a high-level view of jobsite progress for years. Ground Pro now gives us that same perspective inside the building,” said John McDermott, Senior VDC Manager at KAST. “A 10-minute walk with a 360 camera produces not only a 3D, immersive view of what a floor looks like; but also a 2D map of what’s been laid out on the floor and above the ceiling. Instead of clicking through photos one at a time, hoping they’re organized well enough to know where and when they were taken, I can now see where material is stacked and which rooms a trade has taken over, all mapped to a floor plan.”

“The hardware to capture a 3D record of a jobsite has been in everyone’s phones for years. Ground Pro finally delivers the software to enable every member of the field team to instantly capture the site in accurate 3D,” said James Stripe, VP, Product, Reality Capture and Robotics at Procore. “From the 360 walks teams already do, Interior Maps give the whole project team a single-glance view of what is staged on the floor and what is going in overhead, so everyone can sequence work from what is actually on site.”

By unifying multi-modal reality capture from drones, ground robotics and handheld devices, Ground Pro connects field captures directly into Procore’s AI-driven construction management ecosystem.
