Hextar Group has announced new collaborations with China’s Inspur Enterprise Cloud Technology (Shandong) Co Ltd (IEC), marking a significant step towards sustainable innovation in agriculture and green building solutions.
Through their subsidiaries, Hextar Global Bhd (HGB) and Hextar Industries Bhd (HIB) signed separate Letters of Intent (LOIs) with IEC, one of China’s earliest-established cloud service providers.
The partnerships will see Hextar R&D International Sdn Bhd (HRD) join forces with IEC to build an integrated resource smart agriculture platform, beginning with Malaysia’s durian sector. The platform is designed to address pest control and plant disease management and has scope to be expanded to oil palm and other fruit crops.
“Through our partnership with IEC, we are combining deep market knowledge with cutting-edge AI capabilities to address one of the most critical challenges in agriculture – pest and disease management. Starting with the durian industry, this initiative has the potential to extend across multiple crop sectors, helping farmers improve productivity and sustainability,” said HGB group MD Madam Lee Chooi Keng.
Meanwhile, TK Rental Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of HIB, will collaborate with IEC on the Green Building Intelligent Control Cloud Solution. This AI-driven platform is expected to optimise energy usage and enhance efficiency across a variety of industries including shopping malls, healthcare facilities, transport networks and office complexes.
HIB group MD Benny Ang said the partnership “reinforces Hextar’s leadership in shaping smarter energy management solutions that support Malaysia’s sustainability agenda”.
Major shareholder of both HGB and HIB, Datuk Eddie Ong, added that the agreements reflect the group’s broader long-term direction.
“By embedding sustainability principles into our corporate actions, we are committed to delivering integrated technologies for farmers and businesses, accelerating digitalisation and driving long-term value for all stakeholders,” he said.
