Hilton has announced that its lifestyle brand, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, will debut in Sub-Saharan Africa following the signing of agreements for three new properties in South Africa, Kenya, and Rwanda. The expansion marks a significant step in Hilton’s regional growth strategy as the hospitality group looks to nearly triple its presence across Africa to more than 160 hotels in the coming years.

The three new signings include The Sterling Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Sibaya, KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa); Ava Hotel Nairobi, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Kenya; and Zaria Court Kigali, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Rwanda. The Kigali property will also be Hilton’s first hotel in Rwanda and is set to open later this year.

Carlos Khneisser, chief development officer for the Middle East & Africa at Hilton, said: “With its beautiful scenery, vibrant cities, and rich cultural heritage, Africa’s travel and tourism industry is experiencing significant momentum. We are excited to introduce our lifestyle brand, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, to Sub-Saharan Africa with signings in South Africa, Kenya, and Rwanda – bringing authentic, contemporary stays to the growing number of travellers visiting Africa each year. With a legacy spanning over 65 years in Africa, we’re on track to almost triple our presence, bringing a range of brands to even more destinations and meeting the evolving needs of today’s travellers.”

In South Africa, The Sterling Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, developed in partnership with Crown Pound (Pty) Ltd., will be located in Sibaya between Umhlanga and Ballito. Scheduled to open in 2027, the 111-room hotel will offer guests a mix of local character and modern comfort, with amenities including a fitness centre, restaurant, terrace, and outdoor pool. The property is situated within easy reach of Dolphin Coast beaches and King Shaka International Airport.

In Kenya, Ava Hotel Nairobi, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, developed with AVA Hotel Limited, will be located in the upmarket suburb of Lavington. The 91-room hotel will feature a rooftop bar and restaurant, pool, fitness centre, and all-day dining options. Upon opening, it will become Hilton’s fifth property in Kenya.

Rwanda’s Zaria Court Kigali, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, developed by NBA Champion Masai Ujiri’s Zaria Group, will open later this year. The 80-room hotel will be located in a mixed-use complex near the BK Arena and Amahoro Stadium, featuring a rooftop lounge, sports bar, co-working space, and outdoor pool. It will be managed by Aleph Hospitality, alongside the Kenyan property.

Elizabeth Scruggs, brand leader, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, said: “We’re thrilled to bring Tapestry Collection by Hilton to Sub-Saharan Africa. Globally, lifestyle brands are gaining incredible momentum as travellers seek authentic experiences, local connections, and distinctive design. Our new properties in South Africa, Kenya, and Rwanda embody the Collection’s ethos – celebrating the spirit and originality of their surroundings while delivering the reliable and friendly service expected from Hilton.”
