Miraval Resorts and Spas has expanded its international footprint with the official launch of Miraval The Red Sea on Shura Island. Announced in Chicago on 9 June 2026, the luxury opening marks the brand’s first ever destination located outside the United States.

The adults-only retreat is situated along the western coastline of Saudi Arabia, positioned directly between desert terrain and local mangrove forests. Company representatives stated that the location aims to introduce the firm’s long-standing mindfulness and wellness principles to the Middle East, incorporating elements of regional heritage into the guest experience.

The physical footprint of the resort comprises 180 guestrooms, suites and villas. Architectural firms Foster + Partners and Rockwell Group designed the buildings to integrate into the coastal landscape of lagoons, using low-profile structures, earthy tones and coral-themed details. The property is located inside a wider 28,000 square kilometre tourism development that operates entirely on renewable energy.

Guest services include custom wellness schedules managed by specialised planners, covering movement classes, cultural history storytelling, perfume mixing and desert stargazing. The centre of the resort features a large labyrinth built specifically for walking meditation and quiet reflection. Outdoor coastal activities include mangrove kayaking, paddleboarding and zip-lining.

The destination features a 40,000 square foot wellness facility, making it the largest dedicated spa venue on Shura Island. The complex houses 39 indoor and outdoor treatment rooms facing the local gardens and lagoons. On-site therapies blend standard brand methods with local Saudi rituals, including mineral body scrubs and traditional hammam facilities.

Food operations at the resort focus on nutritional health. The primary dining venue, Rosemary, provides plant-forward menus centered on seasonal regional ingredients. Additional options include the informal Palm Court Café and Coral Cove, a daytime restaurant that shifts into an evening social lounge sharing small plates. Guests can also access the Life in Balance Culinary Kitchen for interactive workshops on local coffee brewing and non-alcoholic mixology.

The wider Shura Island hub is currently adding a network of luxury holiday destinations, marinas and recreational spaces, including an 18-hole championship golf course named Shura Links.
