Abu Dhabi based Modon Holding and US hotel operator Montage Hotels & Resorts have announced plans to build a new luxury beachfront resort. The development, called Montage Ras El Hekma, will introduce the first branded villas for purchase along Egypt’s Mediterranean coast. The project marks the official debut of the Montage brand in the country.

The luxury complex will house 200 hotel rooms and suites, along with a private collection of 96 branded residences. Located in the coastal precinct of Wadi Yemm, the three to six bedroom villas will face the sea, with some properties offering clear views of both the Mediterranean and a championship golf course.

Bill O’Regan, Group CEO of Modon Holding, said: “Montage Hotels & Resorts are renowned for serving affluent travellers and homeowners, delivering an elevated guest experience and a commitment to refined living while remaining authentic to their surroundings. This ethos aligns closely with Modon’s vision for Ras El Hekma, where we are creating a distinctive Mediterranean destination defined by quality, experience and long-term value.”

The luxury resort will feature beachfront swimmable lagoons, six dining destinations, retail spaces, extensive lawns and a dedicated clubhouse for property owners. Health facilities will include a Spa Montage equipped with 13 individual treatment rooms.

Alan J. Fuerstman, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Montage International, said: “Bringing the Montage brand to Egypt with Modon is a truly exciting milestone in our global journey. Ras El Hekma is a remarkable destination, where rich heritage and thoughtful design come together in a way that is redefining luxury along the Mediterranean coast. We are honoured to collaborate with Modon to bring this vision to life and to build on their outstanding reputation for creating vibrant communities and delivering world-class sporting and lifestyle experiences.”

The scheme forms part of the USD 35 billion Ras El Hekma masterplan, which spans 170.8 million square metres on Egypt’s Northern Coast. The broader development is projected to secure up to USD 110 billion in investment by 2045. Upon completion, the new smart city is expected to add around USD 25 billion annually to the GDP of Egypt and generate roughly 750,000 jobs.

Wadi Yemm will serve as the initial precinct of the 17 planned zones to undergo active construction. The immediate area will also feature major cultural sites, including the Ras El Hekma Lighthouse and a 10,000 seat amphitheatre. Transport links will connect the area via a new international airport, high speed rail networks, highways and a cruise terminal.
