Swedish construction firm Skanska has finalised an agreement with real estate company Lundbergs Fastigheter to build a series of new apartment buildings in the city of Jönköping. The contract carries a total value of approximately SEK 370 million. This financial commitment will be officially logged in the order intake for Skanska Sweden during the second quarter of 2026.

The scope of the contract covers both the design and the physical construction of the properties. The design phase has already been underway for some time to prepare for the development. The finished scheme will consist of four separate apartment buildings, which will introduce a significant number of new rental apartments to the local area.

Situated in the developing Södra Munksjön zone of Jönköping, the buildings are designed to serve multiple purposes. Alongside the residential accommodation, the premises will incorporate dedicated commercial spaces on the ground floor to support local businesses. The plans also include the construction of underground garages to provide secure parking for future residents. Upon completion, the entire development will have a total gross area of slightly more than 21,700 square meters.

Environmental performance is integrated into the plans for the project. The four buildings will be constructed to satisfy the specific standards required for a silver rating from Miljöbyggnad, the Swedish green building certification system. This standard requires properties to demonstrate high performance in areas such as energy consumption, materials selection and indoor climate quality.

The project is moving quickly into its next phase, with on-site construction work planned to begin during the second quarter of 2026. The contract specifies that all four buildings and the associated infrastructure must be fully completed before the end of 2028.
