Marriott International has agreed a landmark deal with Townhouse Hotels to expand its presence in the Netherlands by eight properties and more than 700 rooms.
The agreement introduces the Series by Marriott brand to the Dutch market with six planned conversions. It also adds two properties to Tribute Portfolio, the group’s collection of independent boutique hotels. The portfolio expansion covers urban properties across five cities, growing Marriott’s existing footprint in Amsterdam, Breda and The Hague, while establishing its first presence in Maastricht and Eindhoven.
Under the agreement, six properties will operate under Series by Marriott, a brand focused on regional identity and accessible guest experiences. Hotel Qbic WTC Amsterdam will rebrand as Townhouse Amsterdam WTC, offering 84 rooms in the Zuidas business district. Townhouse The Hague will provide 88 rooms near political and cultural landmarks.
In Maastricht, three locations will join the collection: the 82-room Townhouse Maastricht, the 55-room Townhouse Mabi Maastricht inside a former cinema, and the 79-room Townhouse Kaboom Maastricht. Hotel Keyser in Breda will rebrand as Townhouse Breda, becoming the largest Series by Marriott site in the deal with 106 rooms.
Two additional properties will join Tribute Portfolio. The Ald Hotel The Hague offers 91 rooms in the city centre. Hotel Mariënhage Eindhoven features 134 rooms inside a converted landmark monastery complex, establishing Marriott’s presence in the regional technology hub.
Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International, said: “This agreement represents a significant milestone for Marriott International in the Netherlands, bringing eight distinctive hotels into our portfolio and introducing Series by Marriott to the Dutch market. These projects offer a mix of independent hospitality experiences across sought-after destinations, while also enabling our entry into Maastricht and Eindhoven. Together with Townhouse Hotels, we look forward to providing guests with even more compelling travel experiences across the Netherlands.”
Joost Mees, Managing Partner at European Hotel Capital, said: “These agreements reflect our long-term vision for Townhouse Hotels: a portfolio of distinctive hotels with a strong identity, backed by a global platform. With our boutique hotels The ALD and Mariënhage joining Tribute Portfolio, and all Townhouse Hotels joining Series by Marriott, we strengthen the foundation of the company and position it for sustainable growth in the years ahead. It is an important milestone in realizing the full potential of Townhouse Hotels, and one that will create value for our guests, our teams and our partners. We have full confidence in the management team to lead the way.”
Rick de Jonge, CEO of Townhouse Hotels, added: “We are incredibly proud that our boutique hotels The ALD and Mariënhage are joining Tribute Portfolio, and that all Townhouse Hotels are becoming part of Series by Marriott. This is a defining moment for our company and a clear recognition of what our teams have built. Joining Marriott’s global platform opens the door to new guests, new markets and new opportunities, and marks the start of an ambitious next chapter.”
