Landsec has finalised the purchase of a further 10 per cent stake in Bluewater shopping centre, raising its total ownership interest to 74.0 per cent. The net cash consideration of £95 million reflects a yield of 7.4 per cent based on the net rental revenue produced by its existing holding in the venue.
The acquisition provides Landsec with greater operational adaptability across its wider investment portfolio and allows the firm to capture additional efficiency gains. Ranked among the top 10 retail locations nationwide, the Kent venue has benefited from major retail brands concentrating physical presences on larger, prime locations.
Trading figures over the five months up to 31 August 2026 show retail sales at Bluewater rose by 7.4 per cent, alongside a 3.0 per cent rise in visitor footfall. These results outperformed national UK market averages, which recorded declines of 1.7 per cent in sales and flat footfall at 0 per cent over the same period.
The strong trading performance demonstrates the site’s ongoing attraction for prominent retail tenants and underpins future income growth prospects for the asset.
