Hilton has confirmed a significant expansion of its DoubleTree by Hilton brand across Africa after signing three new property agreements. The hospitality giant is moving into Togo for the first time while also increasing its presence in Morocco and the Republic of Congo. This latest move is part of a wider strategy to open more than 100 hotels in growth markets across the continent. Hilton currently plans to nearly triple its total footprint in Africa over the next few years.
In West Africa, the DoubleTree by Hilton Lomé Airport will be the first internationally branded airport hotel in Togo. Developed with SODEXH SA, the site sits opposite Lomé International Airport. It will provide 165 rooms and suites along with a signature restaurant, spa and fitness centre. The property also features a ballroom and three meeting rooms to serve business travellers and transit guests.
In the Republic of Congo, the DoubleTree by Hilton Kintele is scheduled to open in 2026. Located in Brazzaville, the 200-room hotel will feature a lobby bar, pool bar and two restaurants with views of the Congo River. Notably, the site will house West Africa’s largest conference centre, covering 75,000 square metres with a 1,500-seat auditorium. This project was signed with Société d’Exploitation et de Développement des Infrastructures du Congo (SEDIC).
In Morocco, the DoubleTree by Hilton Marrakech La Palmeraie is expected to open its doors in 2028. The resort-style hotel will offer 228 rooms, landscaped gardens and a paddle court. This addition brings Hilton’s Morocco pipeline to 16 hotels, including upcoming Waldorf Astoria and Hampton by Hilton sites.
Carlos Khneisser, chief development officer, Middle East & Africa, Hilton, said: “Africa’s major business hubs, rich cultural heritage, and spectacular landscapes continue to present exciting opportunities for growth. We are delighted to expand our footprint with three new DoubleTree by Hilton properties, which will join Hilton’s growing portfolio in Africa as we plan to nearly triple our presence across the continent in the coming years. These signings reflect our commitment to supporting Africa’s hospitality sector – with dedicated local development teams on the ground and deep expertise in these markets, we are well positioned to create long-term value for our partners and deliver world-class stays to our guests.”
These new hotels will join a global network of over 700 DoubleTree properties. Earlier this year, the brand also announced new signings in Angola and Ethiopia, continuing its strong momentum across the African market.
