The Omani Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has finalised a memorandum of understanding with the Republic of Türkiye to collaborate on housing and urban development initiatives. The agreement was concluded during an official diplomatic visit to the country by an Omani delegation. H.E. Dr. Khalfan bin Said Al Shueili, the Omani Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, met with H.E. Murat Kurum, the Turkish Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, alongside senior executives from major Turkish construction companies.

A combined delegation of public and private sector representatives accompanied the Omani minister during the state visit. Officials from Khazaen Economic City, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and several real estate firms joined the group to promote international trade partnerships. During the bilateral discussions, Turkish officials expressed strong interest in expanding investment ties, specifically praising the Sultan Haitham City initiative as a premier future urban development in the region.

H.E. Dr. Khalfan bin Said Al Shueili presented the core targets of the National Urban Development Strategy alongside the Greater Muscat Structure Plan. The minister outlined investment pathways available across infrastructure and real estate sectors. The newly signed memorandum establishes an institutional framework designed to assist technical cooperation and knowledge sharing between the two nations.

The agreement addresses multiple strategic disciplines within modern building sectors. The framework covers sustainable urban planning, green building technologies, coastal zone management and real estate finance. Additionally, the partnership details cooperation on advanced digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, digital twins, smart building systems and the Internet of Things.

To assist commercial integration, the agreement creates pathways for property developers and contractors to engage in major building projects across both countries. The ministries intend to coordinate reciprocal developer visits, corporate forums and industrial exhibitions to build long-term economic ties.

The delegation concluded the itinerary by holding individual sessions with Turkish construction companies to highlight national investment incentives. The Omani ministry extended an official invitation to H.E. Murat Kurum and Turkish business leaders to attend the Urban October Conference and Exhibition later this year.
