The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOC SL) has entered into a formal partnership with two of the country’s most prominent travel brands. Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and Walkers Tours signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create a unified framework for hospitality and transport. This agreement is designed to support international sports teams and Olympic delegations visiting the country.

Under the new terms, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts becomes the Official Hospitality Partner to the NOC SL. Walkers Tours will serve as the Official Transportation Partner. The collaboration arrives at a time when Asian destinations are competing fiercely to host training camps and multi-sport events. Providing reliable logistics is now seen as a vital factor in winning international bids.

Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts will offer preferential accommodation rates for delegations and host official functions at its properties. These locations will also act as venues for media briefings held under Olympic protocols. Walkers Tours is tasked with managing transport and destination services, providing discounted rates and logistical assistance for visiting officials.

“Sport and travel are closely linked, particularly at the international level,” said Hishan Singhawansa, CEO of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts. “When national teams and officials travel, they expect efficiency and convenience. Through this partnership, we are formalizing our role in supporting Sri Lanka’s sporting calendar with the right hospitality infrastructure.”

The Secretary General of NOC Sri Lanka, Mr. Rifdy Fahmy, stated that the mission of the committee goes beyond athlete preparation. “We are committed to creating an environment where international sporting communities feel welcomed and supported. This partnership with Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and Walkers Tours strengthens our operational readiness, ensuring that accommodation, transport, and event coordination meet the highest standards. Together, we are advancing Sri Lanka’s reputation as a premier destination for sports tourism and global sporting events,” he said.

The agreement also includes joint media efforts to promote Sri Lanka as a viable destination for athletes. The partners hope to turn sporting interest into a steady flow of visitors for the country. By linking private operators with the national sports body, the project aims to provide a consistent service for global stakeholders.
