Global transportation and logistics leader Toll Group has inaugurated Singapore’s first decarbonisation hub. The facility is specifically dedicated to electric supply vessels and aims to accelerate the transition to low-carbon maritime logistics.
Launched on December 12, 2025, the hub is a 12-month proof-of-concept project developed in collaboration with Yinson GreenTech. It establishes a new standard for sustainable port operations, supporting both Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 objectives and Toll Group’s wider commitment to achieving global net-zero emissions.
The initiative integrates electric marine transport, smart warehousing, and efficient cargo trucking into one digitally connected end-to-end operation. This real-time coordination is designed to guarantee clean and responsive logistics for customers in the region.
The project is predicted to achieve significant environmental gains. It is expected to cut emissions by up to 80% per trip, saving more than a tonne of CO₂ per trip. This emissions reduction will be achieved alongside overall improvements in operational efficiency and optimised vessel movements.
Jonathon Kottegoda-Breden, President of Asia Logistics at Toll Group, emphasised the wider implications of the project. “This project will deliver real-world data and insights to guide future regulations and accelerate innovation across Asia,” he said. “By establishing Singapore’s first decarbonisation hub dedicated to electric supply vessels, we aim to enable broader adoption of green maritime technologies, reduce fossil fuel dependency, and cut emissions throughout the region.”
The hub’s infrastructure includes purpose-built charging facilities and smart cargo handling equipment. This equipment is designed to maximise vessel uptime and ensure predictable turnaround times for cargo sensitive to deadlines. Digitally verified processes are in place to guarantee fast, safe, and efficient transfers.
Strategically located near Changi Airport and Singapore’s Eastern Anchorages, the facility enables rapid connectivity between air and sea freight. It also allows for efficient trailer access and consolidated warehousing, reinforcing Singapore’s status as a forward-looking regional logistics hub.
Mr. Kottegoda-Breden reiterated the company’s commitment to the region. He continued, “Singapore is a critical growth engine for Toll, and this launch reflects our commitment to building smarter, cleaner supply chains. We’re pioneering a blueprint for sustainable maritime logistics across Asia.”
Rajeev Sood, Executive Vice President – Energy, Marine & Renewables, Asia Logistics, Toll Group, noted the combined operational and environmental benefits. He added, “By integrating electric vessels with smart infrastructure and digital processes, we’re showing how sustainable solutions can deliver both operational efficiency and significant emissions reductions.”
The launch was commemorated with a media and customer event, which included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a product tour of the advanced infrastructure.
