Saudi Arabia’s National Housing Company (NHC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with French energy solutions provider EDF during the Saudi-French Investment Roundtable in Paris.

The agreement took place during the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the French Republic, in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron. Coordinated alongside the Ministry of Investment and the Saudi Investment Marketing Authority, the pact establishes a framework for technical cooperation and joint investment across renewable energy sectors.

Under the terms of the agreement, NHC and EDF will collaborate on developing solar energy initiatives, electrical infrastructure and energy-efficient lighting solutions across NHC developments, facilities and assets. The partnership also covers the installation of public electric vehicle charging stations, carbon footprint documentation and the creation of carbon credit systems. Feasibility studies and pilot projects will evaluate future investment opportunities across these sustainable utilities.

NHC Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Albuty participated in the roundtable event alongside Saudi and French business leaders to explore real estate, energy and infrastructure partnerships.

Addressing the initiative, Mohammad Albuty said:

“NHC is developing urban destinations across 16 cities in Saudi Arabia, spanning approximately 180 million square meters and designed to accommodate nearly two million people. These destinations create promising investment opportunities to build more integrated and efficient systems for energy, electricity, water, mobility, and infrastructure.”

“Their efficiency starts at the earliest stages of urban planning, with sustainable designs tailored to local climate conditions. These include green spaces and shaded walkways, as well as solar energy, energy storage, and electric vehicle charging, and water treatment and reuse technologies.”

NHC aims to deliver 600,000 housing units by 2030 to support the Kingdom’s Housing Program under Saudi Vision 2030.
