IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has officially passed the threshold of 1,000 open hotels across Europe. The company has expanded rapidly over the past three years, adding over 210 hotels to its regional estate and increasing its net system size by more than 25%.

The milestone comes after a record period of growth in 2025. IHG currently holds a development pipeline of more than 280 hotels across the European continent. Since the start of 2024, the hospitality group has secured 36 brand debuts in new European countries, excluding Ruby hotels, with expansion covering its Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium, and Essentials and Suites divisions in markets like Iceland, Sweden and Greece.

Recent openings highlight the group’s ongoing expansion across diverse segments. The 85-room Hari London, Vignette Collection, opened in Belgravia, bringing Vignette Collection’s regional footprint to 13 operating hotels and 16 pipeline properties. In France, the group introduced the Ruby Lilou Hotel Marseille between the Vieux Port and La Joliette following its acquisition of urban lifestyle brand Ruby. Furthermore, the 195-room Crowne Plaza Vienna launched in Austria’s Margareten district. Designed by architect David Chipperfield, the site expands the Crowne Plaza brand, which now accounts for 98 open European properties and 21 pipeline developments.

The company has also introduced Noted Collection as its 21st brand, which has gathered seven hotel signings globally. According to UN Tourism figures, Europe attracted roughly 793 million international arrivals in 2025, representing more than half the global total.

“Surpassing 1,000 open hotels in Europe is a defining moment for IHG and a clear reflection of the strong momentum we are building across the region. This milestone speaks to the strength of our brands, the trust our owners place in us as a partner, the dedication of our brilliant hotel teams delivering exceptional experiences every day, and the loyalty our guests feel towards IHG.

“We are purposefully scaling our portfolio by growing new and established brands in priority markets, supported by sustained investment in our enterprise. Europe remains highly attractive, and with strong fundamentals and a growing pipeline, we are well positioned to deliver long-term value for owners and great stays for guests,” said Karin Sheppard, SVP & Managing Director, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

IHG’s loyalty scheme, IHG One Rewards, currently counts over 160 million members globally, supporting its broader property expansion strategy across conversion and new-build assets in Europe and the wider EMEAA market.
