The Kingdom of Bahrain has announced USD 3.89 billion in investment generated from four major developments awarded Golden Licenses at Gateway Gulf 2026.

The announcement occurred during the fourth edition of Gateway Gulf, held on 1 and 2 November 2026 at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay. Organised by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB), the invitation-only event brought together more than 200 international ministers, senior government officials, chief executives and global investors to examine high-value Gulf opportunities.

The four licensed developments cover aviation logistics, real estate and technology. Logistics provider DHL will build its first regional maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Bahrain International Airport to service its expanding fleet. Meanwhile, Capital A, the parent company of AirAsia, is spearheading three aviation ventures aimed at strengthening connectivity with the Far East and Europe, increasing air cargo capacity and establishing local aircraft MRO operations.

In the real estate sector, Meliá has partnered with Infracorp to deliver a waterfront project on Amwaj Islands, comprising a five-star hotel and Meliá-branded residences. Additionally, Digital City Bahrain will launch an ICT, education and innovation hub designed to house technology clusters and advance the local digital ecosystem.

The initiatives operate within the country’s Team Bahrain public-private partnership model. Supported by progressive regulations, digital infrastructure and workforce development, Bahrain’s non-oil sectors currently account for around 86% of overall GDP.
