IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced it has officially surpassed one million open hotel rooms globally, marking a landmark achievement for the hospitality group as it continues to experience strong international growth across its brand portfolio.

The milestone comes as IHG expands its footprint in more than 100 countries, having doubled its brand offering to 20 in the past decade. The company credits this growth to a combination of rising global travel demand, a powerful loyalty platform in IHG One Rewards, and a suite of innovative technologies enhancing the guest and owner experience.

The first half of 2025 saw IHG record a surge in new room openings, supported by several notable achievements over the past year. These include reaching 4,000 open hotels in the United States, celebrating the 800th hotel opening in Greater China – coinciding with IHG’s 50th anniversary in the region – and record signings and openings across the EMEAA region.

IHG now boasts over 6,700 hotels, with a development pipeline exceeding 2,200 properties, signalling sustained interest from owners and developers across high-growth markets worldwide.
