JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group has announced a significant addition to its team with the appointment of Louis Barruel as Senior Vice President within its Hotels’ Asset Management division. Mr. Barruel will be based in JLL’s Montreal office. He will report directly to Executive Vice President Katie Krieger and will concentrate on delivering client service and growing the portfolio across Canada.

“Louis brings extensive Canadian market expertise and a deep understanding of the hospitality sector that makes him an invaluable addition to our team,” said Krieger. “His proven track record will significantly enhance our client service capabilities across Canada, a key growth region for our hospitality advisory service platforms.”

Mr. Barruel brings 14 years of comprehensive hospitality experience to the firm. He has previously held senior roles at key industry players including HVS Consulting & Valuation, InnVest Hotels, Carbonleo and Artifact Group. His experience managing portfolios spans the entirety of Canada. It includes all hotel segments, from economy accommodation to luxury full-service mixed-use developments.

His notable career achievements involve asset management of InnVest Hotel’s 4,127-room Comfort Inn and 3,218-room Western Luxury portfolios. He also led the Four Seasons Montreal Hotel & Residences through its opening and stabilisation phase. Most recently, he managed Artifact Group’s 1,600-room portfolio over the past two years. His expertise covers market and feasibility studies, valuations, asset management, acquisitions and transaction management. It also includes hotel operations leadership for both managed and franchised properties.

Mr. Barruel holds a Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management from EHL Hospitality Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland.
