Nakheel has appointed Mar Marine & Building Contracting L.L.C. to perform extensive marine and beach enhancements on Island B at Dubai Islands.
The contract targets completion by the fourth quarter of 2027. Under the agreement, the contractor will construct new breakwaters, dismantle existing protective rock revetments and establish a new beach section. Additionally, Mar Marine will carry out repair and refurbishment works along several current beach segments across the western shoreline of Island B.
Overall, the project will add 320 metres of beach frontage near the Bay Villas residential zone while upgrading around 3km of the island’s western coast. This waterfront upgrade runs alongside the construction of Bay Villas, a residential neighbourhood featuring 636 townhouses and villas. Nakheel previously signed an AED 2.6 billion agreement with Fibrex Contracting L.L.C. in August 2025 to build the residential community.
The deal follows an AED 527 million contract given to Al Nasr Contracting Company in April 2026 for primary utility and infrastructure works on Island B. Combined, these packages are driving forward the essential utilities and shoreline developments on the island.
Khalid Al Malik, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding Real Estate, said: “Dubai Islands is being delivered as a distinctive waterfront destination designed around the experience of residents and visitors. Building on the infrastructure works already under way on Island B, the new beach frontage near Bay Villas and enhancements to the western shoreline will create a high-quality coastal environment that develops in step with the wider masterplan.”
Nabil Abou Rjaili, General Manager, Mar Marine & Building Contracting L.L.C., said: “We are proud to partner with Nakheel for marine and beach works on Island B at Dubai Islands. This package combines new breakwaters and beach formation with the refurbishment of existing coastal areas. Our team will leverage its marine engineering experience to coordinate these elements and deliver the next stage of the island’s waterfront.”
Spanning 18.6 square kilometres across five islands, Dubai Islands extends Dubai’s historic Deira coastline as a major new waterfront destination. The masterplan is designed to accommodate more than 230,000 residents across approximately 62,000 homes, alongside more than 11,000 hotel keys and over 4,000 branded residences.
