Minor Hotels has revealed plans to launch a new luxury brand, The Wolseley Hotels, with an inaugural flagship property in New York City. The Wolseley Hotel New York is slated to open in early 2027 within a landmark building at 130 West 44th Street. Designed by the renowned firm McKim, Mead & White in 1905, the site previously served as the clubhouse for The Lambs Club. The move marks a strategic entry into the United States luxury sector for Minor Hotels and brings one of London’s most famous dining institutions to an American audience.
The property will consist of 76 guest rooms and suites designed to balance heritage with contemporary luxury. A central feature of the hotel will be the first Wolseley restaurant in the US, which will operate as the brand’s North American culinary flagship. The restaurant aims to recreate the European grand café atmosphere found at the original London location on Piccadilly. Additionally, the hotel will house an intimate speakeasy bar in the cellar and a modern wellness centre.
Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International, commented, “The launch of The Wolseley Hotels marks an exciting new chapter for Minor Hotels. Inspired by the enduring success of The Wolseley in London, our vision is to create hotels anchored in culinary excellence, architectural character, and a genuine sense of occasion. The Wolseley Hotel New York establishes our first flagship and sets the standard for the brand’s global expansion.”
The project is a collaboration with owner BJGH. Aviv Laurence, CEO of BJGH, added, “Introducing The Wolseley restaurant and bar to the United States through our New York flagship is a defining moment. Together with Minor Hotels, we are creating a destination that celebrates heritage, hospitality, and the enduring appeal of classic European luxury.” Following the New York debut, Minor Hotels intends to roll out the brand selectively in other major cosmopolitan cities worldwide.
