Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel has unveiled a major USD 50 million overhaul, marking the start of a new chapter for the city’s landmark luxury property. Designed originally by architect George Wimberley and opened in 1983, the hotel has undergone a full update across its accommodation, wellness facilities and event venues under the brand philosophy “Transformed. Timeless. Thai.”
A complete redesign of all 335 guestrooms, suites and villas sits at the core of the project. Updated spaces incorporate warm teak wood, silk accents and handcrafted detailing, while bathrooms feature marble finishes and new vanities. Among the new additions are the Anantara Garden Pool Suites and Villas, which provide private pools within tropical surroundings. The property also introduced the two-bedroom Jim Thompson Explorer Suite, created with the silk brand to include teak floors, an open-plan layout and a private library.
Key heritage elements were preserved throughout the works, including the 100-metre hand-painted lobby mural created by artist Paiboon Suwannakudt and the 19 ceiling panels depicting “Heavens in Thai Thought”.
The property maintains its nine dining and drinking venues, which include Spice Market, Biscotti, Shintaro, Madison Steak Avenue, Guilty Bangkok, Aqua Bar, Mocha & Muffins, The Lobby and The Garden Terrace.
Event and wellbeing facilities received major upgrades. The Grand Ballroom and meeting rooms were redesigned with state-of-the-art technology. Meanwhile, the Anantara Spa was refreshed, and the Siam Sports Club added a Technogym fitness centre, a Pilates studio, an outdoor Muay Thai ring, a climbing wall and a functional training area.
