IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with Westcombe Group to launch Hotel Indigo London – Kingston in 2027. The 90-key conversion property, owned through Westcombe Group’s Acre Hotels Collection, will represent IHG’s seventh Hotel Indigo location across Greater London.
The new hotel forms part of a wider redevelopment of Kingston Bridge House in Hampton Wick, converting the former vacant university accommodation block into a mixed-use site containing the hotel and 22 residential units. Located in South West London, the property overlooks the River Thames and provides transport access to London Waterloo in 20 minutes by rail and Heathrow Airport in 30 minutes by road. Nearby landmarks include Kew Gardens, Richmond Park and Hampton Court Palace, while corporate headquarters in the borough drive local business travel.
Launched in 2004 as IHG’s boutique lifestyle brand, Hotel Indigo recently passed its 200th global opening milestone after doubling its size since 2019. Globally, the brand has 201 open hotels and 134 in the pipeline, including 55 open properties and 23 planned across Europe. Recent developments in the UK include openings at Gloucester – The Forum and London K West Shepherd’s Bush during the first quarter of 2026, alongside a debit signing in Stockholm during the second quarter.
Willemijn Geels, VP of Development, Europe, said: “We are delighted to welcome Westcombe Group to IHG and bring Hotel Indigo to the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames in the UK. Hampton Wick’s rich history, riverside setting and strong local identity make it a natural fit for a brand that celebrates neighbourhood stories and authentic local experiences.
“This signing reflects strong owner demand for Hotel Indigo in the UK&I and comes as we recently celebrated 200 open Hotel Indigo properties around the world. Together with Westcombe Group, we look forward to creating a distinctive hotel for guests and the local community, supported by IHG’s global scale and powerful enterprise.”
Kamal Pankhania, Chief Executive Officer of Westcombe Group, said: “This is a very exciting moment for Westcombe and for Hampton Wick. We are transforming a formerly vacant building into new homes, affordable housing and a five-star luxury hotel that will bring jobs, prosperity and thousands of visitors into the local area each year.
“I am particularly proud that the hotel will be branded as Hotel Indigo, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ impressive worldwide portfolio of high-value hospitality assets. IHG is one of the most respected names in global hospitality, and we see this project as marking the start of a long and successful relationship between our two businesses here in the UK and overseas.”
“We look forward to creating a hotel that welcomes visitors and the local community, while generating employment and apprenticeship opportunities and working with local suppliers.”
