Marriott International has officially entered the Lao hotel market with the opening of La Résidence Phou Vao, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Luang Prabang. The launch marks the company’s 800th property across the Asia Pacific region, excluding China (APEC).

Set across three acres of tropical gardens, the 36-suite hilltop property sits within the UNESCO World Heritage zone of Luang Prabang. Located two kilometres from the old town, it offers views of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, Mount Phou Si and Wat That Luang. The site places guests near key landmarks such as Wat Xieng Thong and the Royal Palace Museum.

The resort has joined The Luxury Collection portfolio following an interior and culinary redesign, while keeping its original architecture and hilltop infinity pool intact. Accommodation choices include Garden Heritage, Mountain View and Phou Si Temple Suites, featuring rosewood accents, handwoven textiles and terrazzo bathtubs.

“Opening our 800th property in the APEC region is a proud moment that reflects the trust our owners and guests continue to place in Marriott International,” said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International. “Laos represents an exciting new chapter for us, and the opening of La Résidence Phou Vao, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Luang Prabang underscores Marriott’s commitment to thoughtfully expanding our presence in places that are rich in culture and character.
