Balinese healing retreat Fivelements has announced a global expansion plan following its acquisition by GOCO Hospitality in 2024. The brand will launch its flagship international property, Fivelements Samui, in early 2027, followed by new developments in Europe and an extensive upgrade to its original Bali location.

The brand was established in Bali in 2007. Under GOCO Hospitality, founded by industry veteran Ingo Schweder, Fivelements becomes the consultancy group’s first consumer-facing global brand. The expansion aims to blend longevity science and modern health diagnostics with traditional local healing practices.

Fivelements Samui will open across two hectares of tropical rainforest on a former beachfront site in Lamai, Koh Samui. The property will preserve its original Chinese architectural elements and feng shui design while adding a dedicated longevity centre, thermal bathing facilities and an oceanfront yoga sala. The development will also feature a dedicated employee village for resident staff.

In 2028, Fivelements Ubud in Bali will undergo room renovations, introducing 11 new waterfront villas with private pools. The resort will retain its plant-forward kitchen, organic farm and cookery school. Its local community initiatives, including orphanage education support and village waste management, will also continue.

European expansion begins in 2029 with Fivelements Leysin in Montreux, Switzerland. The redevelopment of the historic Les Chamois site will feature 60 main building rooms, 29 chalets, two restaurants and 4,000 square metres of wellness space. In 2030, Fivelements Montenegro will open in Biogradska Gora, incorporating residential units and a dedicated wellness community focused on local herbal practices.

The growth strategy is supported by GOCO’s investment partnership with Fullerton Fund Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund. The personal health experiences of Schweder and GOCO Managing Partner Josephine Leung have heavily shaped the brand’s proactive approach to health.

“Our vision has always been larger than creating beautiful resorts,” says Ingo Schweder, Founder and CEO of GOCO Hospitality and Owner of Fivelements. “We want to create destinations that inspire healthier ways of living and support people at every stage of their wellbeing journey, combining local culture, evidence-based wellness, longevity science and genuine human connection. Our goal is to help people live longer in better health.”

“GOCO was born from a very personal place,” says Schweder. “I wanted to bridge the gap – hospitals that needed to understand hospitality, and hotels that needed to take health seriously. Fivelements is where those two worlds finally meet, and where we get to do it on our own terms, for the long term.”

“Having experienced the healthcare system as patients, we understand how important it is to feel genuinely looked after and to have knowledge that can help us make better health choices,” says Leung. “Fivelements exists because that standard – the one we needed for ourselves – should be available to everyone. It’s about bringing that sense of care into everyday life.”
