Global operator Minor Hotels has revealed plans to open Avani Cypress Lakes Resort in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley. Set across 340 acres, the project merges Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort with the adjoining Elysia Wellness Retreat to form Australia’s largest integrated resort wellness precinct.

The phased launch starts in October 2026, with final completion targeted for the third quarter of 2027. Rates and packages go live on 1 October 2026. It will be the largest Avani location in Australasia, providing 204 rooms and suites split across two accommodation formats.

Facilities feature an 18-hole golf course, 24 corporate event spaces, two concept restaurants, a pool bar and all-day dining. Upgrades will add three pickleball courts, an outdoor cinema, Pilates reformers, cold-plunge pools and a pool bar with a DJ booth. Culinary additions include Sri Lankan restaurant Chakraya.

The project marks the Australian debut of AvaniWell, following its 2024 launch at Thailand’s Avani+ Hua Hin Resort. Elysia Wellness Retreat will transition into AvaniWell at Cypress Lakes Resort, housing 70 wellness suites, 26 treatment rooms, a magnesium pool, 10 Pilates reformers, infrared saunas and seminar spaces. Public access will be extended to locals, day visitors and hotel guests.

Craig Hooley, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels Australasia, said: “We believe the Hunter Valley has all the hallmarks necessary to establish itself as Australia’s home of wellness. From winery visits and long-table lunches to Pilates classes, cold plunges and educational seminars, modern wellness is personal, flexible and increasingly integrated into everyday travel.

“Avani Cypress Lakes Resort has been designed around this shift, allowing guests to incorporate wellness into a family holiday, corporate retreat, golf escape or weekend break. The launch reflects Minor Hotels’ confidence in the continued growth of wellness-led and experiential travel across Australia, particularly in regional destinations.”

The property forms Avani’s third Australasian site, following Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel’s May 2026 launch and Avani Queenstown’s September 2026 debut.
